We look at; setting up your harness and harness lines, how to hook in and how to hook out, your stance in the harness, drills to improve your harness use, and lastly what to do when it all goes wrong.

8 Footstraps & Planing Building on your fine harness work we will get you up to speed using the footstraps. Including; footstrap positioning and size, getting in the straps in light winds as a drill, how to get planing, the different sequences for getting into both the front and back footstraps, tips for a variety of wind strengths, and of course from many different angles.

9 Waterstart Now that you have an excellent beach start we look at how to get you up on the board without any beach on hand. We start with drills to improve your up and away and then move on to how to release the rig from the water in all scenarios and position the board. We then put it all together. Lastly, we look at waterstart variations including light wind, clew first and the flipped board version.

10 Stance Stance describes how a windsurfer stands on their board holding the rig and feeling comfortable in the conditions they are sailing in. It is fundamental to all your moves and your windsurfing enjoyment. We look at how to produce power by planing earlier and keeping speed. If you are upwind you are in the money so we get you there in all winds. Then as it gets more windy and bumpy we show you how to take control and go fast. We also give you drills to improve your stance. Watch this chapter and work on your stance and you will rip!

11 Tack We look at this all important move from light winds and big boards right up to strong winds and nailing tacks in planing conditions. Tacking a small board will give you the best opportunity to become a better sailor in all areas. We look at the upper and lower body movements and give you land based drills.

If you have all these skills the carve gybe will be yours. Best of all these drills can be practiced in lighter winds and in easier conditions, which means easier progression for you.

13 Footsteering It is important to understand and improve your ability to turn the board using your feet as opposed to the rig. This is where you become more of a surfer and it will give you a great platform to then go for your carve gybes in confidence.

The steps you have taken thus far have put you in the best position ever to now nail those carves. We look at your first carves and how to develop them into a more fluid gybe. We then move on to get you planing out of your gybes and give you tactics and tips for different wind strengths .
